You could save ur self some time by using the search function.

Anyway, if you don't need it anymore, grab a monkey wrench or one of those strap wrenches from sears. Twist the crap out of it as it's epoxyed onto the shifter and "NO" you will not cause damage to the shifter. If you still need the shifter, wrap a strong piece of cloth around it first. It's gonna be a hard battle but in the end, you'll prevail.

The best way to get a shift knob off is called Common Sense.

bah, some elbow gresse will take it off, just keep at it twist as hard as you can to the right. I mean HARD!! and it will come off, if yours was like mine you'll end up with sore forearms the nextday... but i took mine of like 3 times.. what i want to now is how can you take the c ring off with needle nose pliers.Oh and to clarify whats it look like? I got down to the rubber boot and then i couldn't do anything else...

its a biatch, but it will come off. try useing a scewdriver or 2 to pry part of it out then use the pliers to pull it the rest of the way.

i have to say when i took mine off my 89 240sx, i had my knuckles near the pointin popping. it was a really weird feeling.

i finally got it to break loose, and even then it was a b1tch to keep turning for the first several revolutions.

Buy a B&M short shifter. Problem solved.
