Hi. I am looking to add some performance parts to my altima coupe. I've heard this engine was already a pretty potent engine and does not respond all to well to mods. Anyone have any experiance with mods on the vq35?

You're correct. It doesn't respond as well compared to the VQ30 motor in comparison of HP gains after mods.

Say if you add a y-pipe + exhaust to each, the gains on the 3.0 will be more than the 3.5.

You will need something like headers to allow for less restriction.

Modding a 3.5 can be expensive!

My plans are to rebuild the motor and see where that goes.

when I dynoed my stock g35 on dyno day with other g35s, the modded ones were making less power with bolt ons than my stock setup. intake and plenum, exhaust

Common occurance when mods are hap-hazardly purchased based on alleged gains, dreams, and propaganda.
