How is the trunk room lamp switch triggered? That is one of a few questions I have had in my J30 keyless entry system on a 1992-1993 Q45 project. And instead of resurecting my dead topic where I was talking to myself I figured I might make a new one.

There is a little hot Geisha girl that lives near the gas tank.when she hears the trunk open, she kindly switches on the light for you.

I wonder how the 1997-2001 Q45 trunk room lamp switch works if thats how the 1990-1996 Q45 trunk room lamp switch. I hope the cost cutting did'nt mean they no longer could afford those midgets.

Looking at the 95 FSM it looks like any time the car is put in wake-up mode the trunk light is on. Any one of 11 actions cause this from opening a door to tilting the steering wheel. See page EL-73.

On page EL-34 there's a switch and diode in the circuit controlling the trunk light. Is this the glovebox switch? What's the function of the diode? Why are you asking this question?

The 1990-1993 Q45 is far more simple than the 1994-1996 Q45 (No Body Control Module AKA BCM). I am wondering because the Anti-Theft and the Keyless entry system both have ties into the trunk room lamp switch. I think what the service manual leaves out is that when the keyless entry Control Unit recives a signal to to open the trunk. It does so and also grounds the trunk room lamp switch, So the trunk light comes on. The diode allows energy to enter one way and not flow back.

Basically I am trying to keep the ammount of wire needed to make the keyless entry system work down to a little as possible. Less wire = Less static weight and more money in my pocket.

100 feet of automotive wiring weighs less than a full bladder.

Hell with the way I am loosing weight I hope to loose .1 second in the quarter mile. But I will hook up the keyless entry Control Unit (CU) less the trunk room lamp wire connected and hope the trunk lamp does not stay on or comes on when the time is right.
