How does panel beating/dent removal work? How much does it generally cost?

I noticed I have a small dent (no larger then say 1.5cms long) in the passenger door. It looks like it came from some hitting their door into mine. It is hardly noticable, however, I'd like to see if I can get it removed (I just want my car to be perfect :P). There is no paint damage.

How does panel beating work? Is sttuff like this easy to fix? They wouldnt have to pull the door apart would they? I've never had an accident or had to get a car repaired so I don't know how all that works.

I had the dealer fix my ding...it was $100 USD and about as big as a quarter. I suppose you could try to do it yourself, but $100 wasn't too bad.
