how does a speed limiter operate/function?

What actually happens when the speed limiter is activated on a fwd sr20 (U13 Bluebird engine in a Sunny B14)? Does the fuel pump just switch off alone? In other words, can I just power my fuel pump with direct power as opposed to ECU power, in order to beat the speed limiter?

I don't see what situation you'd be in where you need to be able to go past the speed limiter.

There's a wire you can cut somewhere, I believe. You'll have to search and/or consult an FSM to find out.
