How do you put a value on a "modified car" ? In the last few months I have had several people interested in buying my car but, I really don't know what would be fair. I wouldn't sell it unless the price was right for me I just wonder what would be a "Fair" price.

Edit: -10 points for using quotations twice when I am not quoting anything!

no one has ever really made an offer on my car, but I will say this, when people mess with it, or damage it in any way, i get really really pissed at them and tell them that "I dont have any kids, or any pets, or a girlfriend for that matter, this is all I have, and your messing with it, so if you dont stop, were going to have big problems" then I usually relate it to if i was messing with their kid or dog or something... seems to work pretty well.

I just always think... "What would I pay for it?"... of course my car is worth a lot more to me personally, but no one is going to pay what you've put into it.. so I think about how much I would pay for the same car.

I think that makes sense.

I value my car by the smile that's invariably plastered across my face every time I floor it in third gear...

I'm with Papasmurf...I've never had a real girlfriend, and this is my baby, my pride, my joy, my bane, and has been for the last 4 years.

You'll never get back what you put into it, because the people who buy used cars that are already heavily modified will just never understand the sense of personal satisfaction and pride that comes from achieving something great by yourself.

pretty much you can add up all the money in parts that youve put in to it. cut that in half. add that to original cost. (maybe minus a couple hundred since youve used it) and thats what a modified 240 is worth

The Value of your car is what you are willing to let it go for. The Value of someone else's car is what you are willing to pay for it. A sale generally occurs somewhere between what you are willing to sell for and what someone is willing to pay for it.
