you can pick up one of the filters from just about any auto parts store, or you can usually just fin them at Wal-Mart. They will run anywhere from $20 to $150 depending on brand names and such. Just make sure you get one that is not too heavily oiled or you may have some stalling problems fropm the oil getting onto the MAF calibration wires.

So the APC filters at Wal-Mart and Autozone are actually decent? Or do the Apexi, K&N, etc actually have something over them other than price?

I don't know anyone specifically who runs one of the former.

I've used about all of them at one time or another. The truth is that the high dollar filters really do flow more air through. But if you don'tr have the need for 800+ CFM of air flow, you're only loing 1-2hp on one of the cheapo filters.

you clean off and re-oil the cone filter with a cleaning kit on the expensive ones.

The cheap ones you simply replace the cone unit.

Just did mine as well, though I went really really cheap. I spent about $5 on the two pieces for the hoses to connect to and the sealent. I had the small filter I put on the aiv laying around so I figured I'd use that rather than just get rid of the emissions just yet. This is just temperary since I didn't want to spend money on good looking stuff when I'm giong to be going forced induction around the end of the year. And even though the hose looks blocked it's really not, the car doesn't get any hotter than before no matter how hard I run it. Yes I know I need to clean the car, you don't need to tell me that everytime I post pictures of it.

It definitly made a difference but I put a K&N filter in when I did it as well. So I guess it really cost $50 but you could do it for just $5 if you don't buy the filter. My girlfriend said the car definitly felt smoother (she's not a car person and I didn't tell her I did anything so I was suprised she said anything.) It just feels a little better with the throttle to me. Like if you blip it, it seems to rev a little quicker. Maybe a little high end but that could easily just be in my head. If you want I can show how I did it, it might take a day since I don't really want to take it all apart at the moment.

tunedis95 did a way better job so I'd rather see how he did it and his parts list for it.

That's my write up, not the best but probably the worst. I suck with cars and I'm worse at explaining, so you've been warned.
