I was told that you have to take the entire rear seats out to replace the 6x9's. If this is true how do you take them out. I can't find one bolt. Do you take the bottom part out first then the top or vise-versa. Also the side door panel's on th front will not completely come off. I unsnapped all of the atachments but still can't find screws that are holding the panel on.

The bench comes out first; it doesn't have any screws. It is held in place with 2 spring-loaded retainers. Pull the 2 tabs on the bottom front of the bench and lift simultaneously. The bench will rotate up and out. There are 6 screws holding the seatback in place. Some are behind the bench. The others are behind the armrest backplate. The plate is velcroed and clipped in, slide it up and pull it out.

There are 4 (I think) screws holding the door panel on. First remove the arm rest. Slide it back and it will come right up, exposing the screws. The other one is behind the plastic window switch cover. It's held in with plastic pawls--snaps in and out. Be careful when removing the panel. There is a plastic clip near the front corner of the glass that the panel hangs on. If you pull the panel out too far before lifting it up, you will break this clip. Not a big deal, but keep it in 1 piece if possible.

To finish off - the rear package tray is held on by retaining clips. Just remove the three retainers on the front edge (under the seat lip) and then pull up on the package tray. Work your way back toward the rear glass gently pulling up on the package tray - the grilles are not removable - DON'T try to pry them out. They are attached to the package tray with screws.

This is also the first step in replacing the fuel pump . . . just in case you want to kill two birds . . .

Is everyone sure bout that? I may be different for a 90 but, I didn't have to remove the seats at all on my 92 Q. I simply pulled that large pannel in the front of the trunk to get to them...You can also get to the fuel tank etc... Just a bunch of black plastic phillips clip screws...takes about 5 mins to get in there.

One tip that I have learned about the Q's speaker system is that the wire plugs become lose over time. I thought I had blown front speakers a while back. I took the door pannels apart and simpy mashed the little plugs a little tighter. Still goin strong...

Yes, you get to the tank through the trunk, but removing the package shelf allows you to extract/replace the pump with the tank still in place.
