disable the power radio antenna? i got a new head unit installed and the antenna comes up everytime the head unit is powered on, rather than only when the radio comes on (like stock). i would prefer to just disable the antenna entirely, since i almost never listen to the radio, how is this done? i opened the hood and concluded that the antenna motor is hidden behind some paneling and i don't know how to access it. also, does anyone know where i can get a rear wind deflector? (the ones that are mounted above the tailgate window). anyone know? thanks!

If you read my post I have been dealing with the whole h/u, new stereo system myself.

Final answer is, I don't believe you can. For whatever reason they designed the antenna connection to send part of the power to the headunit. So, if you disconnect the antenna...it wont turn on. You're kinda stuck with the antenna always just coming up. Unless you just want to bust the motor...

I was hoping to find a newer stationary attenna, like the small ones covered in a black plastic. Looks a lot better, and no motor noises.

As I mentioned before...doing so will not allow your head unit to power on.

no thats not what triggers the antenna to go up and down....it is a wire, the color is solid blue after market wiring harnesses.

so what i did was go to radio shack and buy the smallest toggle i could. Then cut the wire and installed the toggle in between and hid the toggle. this way i can turn it on and off when i want to.........and everything still works

you should just be able to unplug the wires from the motor itself, right?
