I thought I heard somewhere that once your key is in the ignition give it a quarter turn let all the warning lights flash and let that low quick ticking noise which I think is the fuel pump activating pass and then start it.

Is this how most of you guys start er up?

I just put the key in and turn all the way. I give it a few seconds before I put it in gear though. Curious, what would doing what you say do to save parts on the car?

I heard it was beneficial to do that to get the fuel pump or something activated before you start.

Which I'm thinking is that little ticking sound you hear for like 2 seconds when you turn the key in the "ON" position first. I presume its the fuel pump activating, or the battery...regardless I wait till that sound is gone then start it up...

I usually do that on an exceptionally cold day. Not entirely sure it's actually better, but I know it doesn't hurt. And on my Ram I used to have with the big 5.9L V8, the truck was ALWAYS outside (wouldn't even fit in the garage, haha), and doing what you describe would help it start quicker in the winter. But that was a vehicle almost 10 years older than the Rogue.
