Do shop by price or quality? Do you get two or four? Can you tell that much of a different?

If you are only going to get two new ones, I'd strongly recommend getting the same brand/model as the other two. My friend has one brand up front on his G35 and a different set in the back and it totally messed up the handling. Now he's trying to save up to get new front tires.

I just got a set of Yokahoma's for my M45. I went on Tirerack and looked at the different tires available in the size I needed. I then read the reviews and ratings and that helped me pick out the best tire for my car. I then called the local tire shops to see who had the best deal on the tires.

Ditto re the Tirerack. Living in a small city w/out any major tire dealers I ordered thru the Rack and had a local mom and pop shop who is hooked up w/the Rack to take delivery and install do the mounting. I went w/the ContiExtremeContacts due to the extreme weather (i.e. lots of snow in the winter) in this part of the USA and my laziness about not wanting to do seasonal tire changing. From my perspective after about 1 year on the tires, I made the right decision.
