How do you replace the ignition lock/cylinder/thing?

I can't for the life of me get the old cylinder out! Is there some sort of trick to it?

yup, you have to put the key in, turn it to either accessory or run I don't recall which and then insent a pin in the hole in the side and it pulls out IIRC
