How do you replace bose with aftermarket

how do you replace bose with aftermarket stereo and still keep the bose speakers? I know about that conversion plug is there anything else? first off the 1 speaker is cracking bad, two others you can barely hear??? one is good... Anyone have any idea , could it be the stereo or is there an amp? Its all original 1991 2+2. should i start with stereo or speakers?

i just have a alpine deck hooked up i dont think the PO did any mods

The cracking is due to the amps failing. I may have some extra amps, I think I have at least two, I can look tomorrow. Removing and replacing them is very simple and straight forward.

To run an aftermarket head unit to a Bose you need a line-output converter, such as the one I'm selling below:
