How do you remove turn signal (combonation lamp) on a 1996 Q?

My turn signal bulb burned out so I am now trying to remove the turn signal housing. The FSM says to 1) remove the air guides (done) 2) remove the turn signal housing. The diagram in the FSM shows that the turn signal is only held in by one screw on the top, which i already removed. The top half comes out fine, however, the bottom half seems to be held in place by something. I don't want to force it out and risk breaking something, so is there a trick to removing the turn signal?

Yeah theres a ball in socket on the bottom... Dont pull down from the top, if possible gently pry with a flat head screwdriver from the bottom side.
