After reading the first solution I looked into finding a simpler solution. Best of all, everything can be done at the computer. My car is a 89 with a 96 ka24de, but all the wiring and computer is 92. On my computer, there is a yellow wire with green stripe, 8th one over from right on harness. This is the vehicle speed sensor signal. Cut that wire. That is it. If you have a California car I think it will trigger a code, but for the rest of us, it is an easy trick. Your speedometer will still work because the signal comes from the transmission, goes to the gauges, THEN feeds the computer. I had to find a solution because my car comes very close to the speed limiter at the end of the 1/4. If anyone can beat the revlimiter let me know. I'm working on it.

I got this excerpt from the FAQs, just wondering if anyone has tried it? I have always heard about the wires and transmission sensors that cause the speedo to stop working, but never this, are there any adverse effects to this mod?

It almost seems too easy...

you shouldn't have any reason to want to remove it. your car won't go that fast on the track. you shouldn't drive that fast on the street.

The rev limiter stops the revs from climbing above 6900rpm I believe on our cars. the speedlimiter keeps the car form going over 113mph, regardless of revs.

And you're right, I won't be going this fast, but it would be a cool thing to have done. Plus I am buying that 180mph speedo eventually and it would be lame to have a 180mph speedo with a 113mph limit, despite the fact that I won't go that fast.

And with a turbo (and in some cases N/A) it is not too hard to max out at 113 on faster tracks. I plan to go turbo soon, the parts are already being put together.

HKS and Trust make speed jumpers that lie to the computer. Most ROM tunes include a similar dishonest correction to the computer. Now the fact that people go to the trouble to do that rather than just cut a wire gives me pause. What could possibly go wrong if the computer doesn't know the car's speed? I have an HKS SCD in my GTS4 and it allowed me to reach 150MPH and an Apex Multichecker in my Silvia that helped me do 130MPH so disabling the speedcut is a great thing but I can't help wondering why these things sell if the wire can just be cut without detriment.

People don't know about it? I didn't know about it until tonight, the accepted method I have always heard has been to cut a wire and remove the transmission plugs.

Plus the fact that things like the multichecker are MUCH more useful than speed mimiter decrease. I eman you don't spend th emoney on a JWT reprogram just for the limiter removal.

true but people do lay out over $100.00 just for a speed cut module.

well why doesn't somebody just go try this, i mean you can always reconnect the wire later, not too difficult. i'd do it myself but i don't even own a nissan...yet

When I need to go over 113 MPH I'll cut the wire, untill then I dont even need to go over 80 MPH. Freak'n A I'm not a race car driver.

I wonder if this applies to the SR also.

Check the manual to find the speed sensor wire on the SR ECU. It should work in theory...

In theory communism works though...

I guess you'd gain a few extra mph, but the rev limiter is still gonna get you unless you disconnect the transmission sensors. But then won't the speedo stop working?

Ive always heard the auto 240SX didnt have a speedlimiter. Maybe this could explain why ive seen 117 on my HUD before? BTW this was run at 3am on a backroad where the deer roam
