well if yours is anything like mine, it has 2 taller racks and 3 small cross bars... they are all held into a slider on each side of the car... the racks have large plastic bolts on them so you can slide them forwards and backwards, just unscrew those plastic bolts (and on the 2 larger racks, its more like a large plastic wheel)

ur right about the bolts... they r 10mm bolts that you are undoing i went to home depot and bought small 10mm bolts to put in its place, like just to prevent the bolt holes from ever corroding or getting mud in them, just as good measure

PS pathfinders are different, this is for 97-99.5 qx4's

on the pathfinder belonging to slickroger, the roof rack is slightly harder to remove - i believe it involves unbolting the endcap of the rail and sliding the rails off the end

so i went at it with a 10mm socket and rachet and got NOWHERE. i only have 2 large crossbars, and where they attach to the rails, under them i can feel a bolt, and it looks like there isnt much there for the socket to grasp onto. I am so lost and am ready to give up haha

mine looks a little different i think, those dark grooves on the round part on the outside, is that were your bolts are? mine are on the inside-side of each part that latches into the railing....love those pics btw
