Did a search with the word pilot and only came up with 12 topics, none really getting into how to remove the brass pilot bearing. (The one that comes with the clutch kit.) Can the tool be picked up from a local auto parts house, or is it a tool that needs to be special ordered? Is there some kind of home made tool that can be made up? Thanks.....

i know for a fact that their are several threads just about this. you should practice your searching skills.

but to answer your question, you can rent a tool from autozone/advanced or you can pack grease in the behind the bushing and then use an appropriatly sized dowel rod to compress the grease and push the bushing out.

i second karmakaze, grease trick is easiest, find a bolt or dowel pin that fits in snugly without binding, squirt a crapload of grease in the pilot bearing and hammer the bolt/pin into the pilot, builds up pressure and shoves the bushing out. easy as cake.

A slide hammer and a bearing puller is also rentable from autozone. Usually the retards that work at the autozones around here have no clue what I'm talking about but the tool does exist and they do carry it to rent.
