I am not sure if I am the first person to think of this for an Infiniti, I was telling this to Ozzie...

But is it possible to make the front emblem AKA Belt buckle light up like the new Infiniti Essence "concept":

Excuse the Crapsus AKA Lexus:

I originally wanted to put a spot light on the emblem but this is much cleaner and cooler.

yes it is.Led lights and plexi glass. You have to position the emblem on top of the plexi, then the led's behind the plexiabout 4 maybe 6Or go to Advance and get the neon string lights that you can use for interior trim.l will try it out this week and get back with you.Hit me up at [email protected] and leave me your email address.l'll let you know which way is best and smoother

The way the logo is on the belt buckle Q makes it possible... The Infiniti logo is screwed onto the black and silver badge. Maybe remove that and cut plexiglass to the exact shape and screw that between the badge and logo... with some LED's... I supposed there could be a few ways to do it, depending how intricate you wanted to get. If I was gonna do this I might take a dremel tool or something and carve out the vines on the badge and light up behind those and the logo. Get creative!

Update:

I got some plexiglass and some LED's from radioshack and did some experimenting. The plexiglass is hard to bend and the LED's aren't bright enough, So thats a little snag.

But I found this: http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread?id=421610

And I might do this as another project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq1NYwiNvME

But the above project is best suited with Keyless entry (1994-1996 Q45 guy).

All my other idea's besides the above are original though.

Thanks Percy, Lino so far.

Sandwich the plexiglas between the emblem and the belt buckle backing. No need to bend it...just shave it to match the arc of the backing. Only the exposed edges need to be clean cuts...the faces against the emblem and backing can be rough surfaced.

It will probably help smooth out bright spots if you put something reflective against either face of the plexiglas piece, except in the spots with the LEDs are. Might even want to try using small surface mount LEDs and carve small, fitted recesses into the plexiglas for them.

I would also cut the edges of the plexiglas at a slight taper, so that the base is slightly wider than the face. That way, even though it's behind the emblem, you'll still see some of it around the edges (inner and outer) of the actual emblem even from a straight-on viewpoint.

Another option is to replace the emblem itself completely. Bright enough light will come through reflective paint if the paint is applied thinly. You could mold some clear resin to match the emblem, then paint it silver. During the day, you have a chrome emblem. At night, with the headlights turned on, you have a lighted emblem. LED hotspotting will definitely be a tough issue with this method, though.

This guy made his own "stealth" silver signal lamps for his 3 series:http://home.comcast.net/~matth...x.htm

You could use that technique to achieve the illuminated painted emblem.
