I have a 2007 350Z and instead of buying a CAI I want to replace the factory accordian tubing for a smoother tubing like you would get in a CAI, but retain the factory airboxes. Does anyone know where I could get this made or where I may be able to buy just the intake tubes? If anyone on the forum has the equiptment to make them I would be more than happy to pay them for their services. Thanks to all that respond.

yah most speed shops sell the aluminum j tubes u need to make the intakes... just give them the dimensions u want and they'll cut it out for you... it's not tha expensive actually... you may need to weld on vibration mounts and find a spot to buckle them down...

... well i'm not sure about the other year zs but the 07 boxes are fully enclosed and feature a ram air design... the air inlets though are just behind the hood and not really opened to free outside air... just a thought though you might want to remove the factory boxes and replace them....

what made you want to keep the oem boxes?

Not real happy with the heat shields from the aftermarket, I like STILLEN's air box, but they want too much and I don't think it is worth it. I have also read that the stock air intake is actually really good and I just want to clean it up. I'll have to figure out a way to make ram air scoops or something.

Here are some pictures of the intake tubes I fabricated a few months back. They will fit both the factory air boxes and the Stillen system.

I used two 45 deg. aluminum pipes, with 2.75" dia. It's a tight fit under the strut tower bar, but with a lot of measuring, trial fitting, cutting, re-fitting, and most of all patience, it can be done properly.

I also made a couple of Nissan badges which I put on the Stillen boxes.

That looks very well done, nice job! Have you had a chance to dyno the car after the pipes were added?

Thanks! Haven't had a chance to dyno yet. I plan on doing it in April.
