I have had mine for almost 2k miles now and really loving the MPG (36mpg on third tank). I also have a Q45 I drive, needless to say that car gets very little weekday runs. I like the Altima hybrid over the Camry Hybrid, 1. because I love nissans 2. The altima is just much funner to drive. I fine the Altima Hybrid is a good blend of fun and economy.

I second Banshee on this. So far I am very happy with my hybrid. Probably the best looking and performance out of any production hybrid made so far.

I've driven the Camry Hybrid and currently have the Altima Hybrid, and I would say that the Altima Hybrid is a much more balanced car. The Camry feels every bit of its weight. The Altima has better balance and much better handling.

There is a MotorTrend review a bit back of the Altima Hybrid vs. Camry Hybrid, and they rated the Altima #1.

I can't distinguish the difference between the two because I haven't driven the Camry, but I was VERY surprised about the way this car drives. I came from driving an 04 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab which got about 7-9 MPG and rode stiff, and although I certainly do miss aspects of driving the truck I feel like for once I didn't over do it (by buying V8 or BMW). I feel like I am doing something right to my wallet and the environment and I feel like also made the right choice in a vehicle which is gradifying to say the least.

So far, I really like the Altima Hybrid. There are a few minor things that bug me, but they aren't specific to the hybrid. Most annoying is the fact that the Nav system won't let my passenger or me do much while driving. Often, it would be more dangerous to try to stop along side the road than it would be for me to enter some nav info, and it would be infinitely safer to tie the commands to the passenger sensing switch for the airbag and allow data entry if there is a passenger in the car. Also, and this is just a pet peeve, I hate that the rear windows don't go all the way down!

As for a comparison to the Camry Hybrid, I drove a regular Camry to get some idea of the comparison, but none of the Toyota dealers here in CT could find a Camry Hybrid for me to test drive. That, combined with the tax credit and the fact that the corporation I work for has a VPP with Nissan that allowed me to get the Altima Hybrid below sticker made the decision fairly easy.

I have 240SX and 350Z. When 240SX got problem and I feel not wroth to fix then I went to Nissan dealer in Corona, CA to get 2007 Altima Hybrid ($2000 cheaper than 2008 model) on 6th, March 2008. Next day I drove to work and when I want to go lunch, it won't start. I am very upset. When I call Corona Nissan they want me to pay myself and bring the car to them. That is unacceptable so I call Nissan directly and get a case #. And Nissan told me to bring my car to closer Nissan dealer to get check and fix. When my car arrive to Oceanside Mossy Nissan and the service people opens the hood and we saw the cover for 12V connection is on the side of the hood. (I think they jump the car and forgot put it back). They think I forgot to turn off the light or something so the 12 volt battery dies, the car won't start. After they check the car they found out the car has a 3rd party alarm system installed (which they use at Corona Nissan) and the wire cause the 12V battery die. Mossy Nissan told me the dealer should not do any electronic change to Hybrid car. I went back to Corona Nissan on Saturday to return the car (unwind - http://www.edmunds.com/advice/....html) and they said by law I have to give them the chance to let them fix the problem. I told them they installed a 3rd party alarm system without let me know (they forgot to let me sign the paper) so that's mean I buy item A and you gave me item B. Finally they took the car back. I also get 2008 Altima Hybrid from them on Sunday (they can not find the car color & package that I want without 3rd party alarm system installed on Saturday, they call another Nissan dealer to deliver to them next day for me.) When I have 2007 model, my high voltage battery showing full charge all the time but my 2008 model always showing about 70% charged, when it goes down to about 50% the gas engine kicks in to charge the battery. I don't know if the hybrid system design is different between 2007 / 2008 models. From the beginning I got about 33 MPG with 80 MPH on the highway 60 MPH at city mix( I wrote down mileage from the meter and divide how many gallons that I fill to my tank, the meter from the car is about 2 or 3 MPG higher than I got). Now I drove it slowly, I got about 37 MPG with 65 MPH on the highway and 40 MPH at city. (The meter shows 39.9 MPG)I choose Nissan Altima Hybrid because it has 20 gallons tank and can go for 700 miles per tank. If I want the best MPG then Toyota Prius will be the choice. I love my 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid so far. I have question about the oil change service. Some dealer told me every 3750 miles but some told me every 5000 miles because the Hybrid uses 0w20 motor oil. Anybody knows?

I just traded my 2004 VW Touareg in for the 2008 Altima Hybrid and am loving it..!! Couldn't be happier with the features, navigation, phone integration, ride, etc....far outweighs the Touareg's features! I have since joined some of the Altima forums and have found a group of crazy individuals who are devoted to Altima's...who knew?... but way to go! I'm joining the club!
