Easiest way for me is to look under the hood, should see the ABS module (probably on the passenger side, but not sure since I don't have ABS). If anyone has an underhood pic should be easy to spot.

Go about 30 miles an hour on a clear street and slam your breaks. But ya biggie's idea is probably easier.

Was ABS even available on the S version US Versa's in '07? I could be wrong but I didn't think it was. I seem to recall lots of jealous US posts complaining about ABS being standard on the Canadian models but not available on the US models. EV probably knows.

Think ABS has been an option on all models from the beginning.

on a wet road (no traffic) preferably, put your foot to the floor and you will feel a "grinding" sensation on your foot. That is ABS doing it's thing.

If you have your Monroney sticker it will listed under "Options Included by Manufacturer" as a $250 option on the 07 if it was available on the S.

It also included:

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)Brake Assist.

Also when you first crank up and take off you will hear a slight clunking noise that the ABS system makes while doing a self check.

PS-This is beside the point but I got to drive a $47K Hybrid Highlander back from Shreveport, La.(280 Miles) this morning and got 25.3 MPG on the computer running 70-75MPH. (That price is only $1K less than both my loaded Nissans.

I had an 07 S with ABS. But when I was shopping it was very rare to find any ABS cars S or SL. At that time in March of 07, there were just 2 6MT S models with ABS in the entire Southeast. Even with ABS, Versa brakes are very weak.

Hi,

Sorry but I have to be blunt. If you are driving a vehicle and you don't know options or features you vehicle has, you scare me.

Man........ what will you do if you think you have ABS and some kid runs out in front of you car and you expect the car to perform a certain way and it does not.

THE ONLY WAY TO TELL IF YOU HAVE ABS IF THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO THE "ON" POSITION. No ABS light = standard brakes (Threshold braking required)

So you do have ABS.

Free advice, go drive the piss out of you car in an empty parking lot and see how your car handles. An emergency is no way to learn how your vehicle will handle.

speaking of scared, before i got the versa i test drove an EVO.... the dealer drove it off the lot and lets just say his scare tactics are weak.... he was to gentle on the gas, and he dragged the clutch through all the gears.... so after a few blocks, we had some laughs... and then the real driving started... i took it easy at first and then, opened it up... then he told me to get on the freeway, then i really opened it up... ive never seen anyone hold their seatbelt so tight.... reading this story you might think im a reckless driver, however i am not...

Well if you don't know what to look for under the hood, turn your steering wheel until it stop, either left or right. Turn off your ignition and walk to the front of the car and look on the inside of either front wheel. What you are looking for is a black, flexible wire attached to the strut and going somewhere near the outer CV boot. This is the ABS sensor wire and each wheel should have one.
