i recently installed a 5 speed in my 96 I30t and need to know which cv axle to buy since they have different part numbers for non locking vs locking transmission...

does anyone know how to determine a locking from a non locking 5 speed tranmission?

thanks

If you have the transmission code from the transmission, that would be a big help. I'll look in the FSM and see if I can find where it is located.

this is what i have figured out...

the part number for a non locking abs cv axle is the same for automatic OR manual transmissions...

HOWEVER

if you have a locking tranmission it is different

the reason my axle continued to leak was i had a locking axle installed on my non locking transmission

hopfully once i install the new axle the leak will cease

i will post the results as soon as i know
