I went to eat at a restaurant in my area tonight , and I parked next to an escalade and a brand new Benz, the distance between the cars were a lot, when I come out, there's a lady and her kids getting on a a brand new white optima to my passenger side when I notice the lady had one of the rear passanger doors all the way open pretty much the end of the door stuck to mine, I really didn't want to say anything because her kids were there but damn lady you don't have to make your door get stuck on mine, I left and I was upset about it and when I pulled up to the gas station, sure enough my car door had a scuff, I wiped it clean but still she took a little chip off my paint with her door, :tisk:

Some people are just not careful, I mean I know we're not supposed to be materialistic people and worry about little things but I try to keep my car as clean as I can, any advice??? Where do you guys park your cars when you go out?
And I don't mean take 2 spots, those guys get messed with I know it, any tips???

when people are near your car....simply hit the panic button...lol.....when going to mall or restaurant, drop ur lady off in front...park far away(or most empty), then walk back....then when leaving have your lady wait for you to pull up infront....sucks when its raining tho....dont start nothing in the parking lot then park your car...dont cut nobody off or steal a parking spot....

That definitely sucks. I would always make sure you park in the center of a spot (like you did) and always be considerate of other people who may be parking next to you. I parallel park in cities a lot, so I always make sure to leave as much room for others as I can. If you don't someone might try and squeeze in a space and bump you around. I would definitely have said something to that lady though, nothing mean, and I wouldn't expect her to fix it, but I would let her know that her actions in public aren't invisible to people. "hey you know you hit my car? it's ok, but you should be careful". Also, park next to nice cars. The people driving them feel the same as you do about damage to their property.

Stop shopping at WalMart...
but honestly, there are times when you can't avoid it.
I make good use of touchup paint and my buffer.

Yes, touchup paint is a good thing-because there is no way to avoid it. But a mindset regarding the relative size of your mishap vs the infinite mass of the universe will help you see just how small your paint scratch really is in the grand scheme of things...Image

The general decline of society has led to such behavior. Nobody takes responsibility for anything. Self-centered. There is no way to avoid it except to not drive a car. Either that, or hire a security guard to watch the car... but even then, all it takes is one nap & BAM some welfare mom will hit the car.

If the car's on air, air it out. Sounds stupid, but for whatever reason people don't park near as close and are a little more respectful compared to my other cars. :inout:

Outside of that stupid suggestion for most, it's what everyone else has said already... park as far away as possible and prepare for a scratch or two. It's not a museum piece or a show car, scratches happen when you drive, let alone park. :gotme

Geeez, your description of the suceeding generations sounds like the typical old codger complaining about how when he was young. How old are you? Really... Image

Yep. Those would be the exact ones. We have them here in L.A., too. Just imagine Lindsey Lohan's driving skills & social conscience...

I wish I knew. I have tried every excellent sugestion other posters have made and still i get some dings. Since I am going to keep my 2004 when the ding factor gets too annoying I am taking mine to a body shop to have them fixed and start all over again.

yea that's what I do. Or when I know im going to a place like walmart we take the wifes car lol

If we have to be in my car, I park the furthest away. My wife has already noticed that when we are in her car I park close but when in mine I park far. Oh well.
