The tuner at forced fab in dayton(multiple CA's) talked wih me about how he may be able to tune my car(with larger injectors) on the dyno via ostrich eprom system/burning.

he said he is not for sure if he can map trace on it yet or no, would you say this is posible, and if so, would this be a good route for me to go?

i have also thought about getting nistune, pfc($$$$), and i recently heard things about autronic and microchip.

what do you guys think?

also, if i bought the ostich emulator, will that provide me with real time tuning, and will it work on the CA?

im confused on how they work on out cars and what all options you cn tune with on the computer, and if its difficult.

thanks, i wouldnt mind having someting i could make changes myself without doing nistune, this basically sounds similar.

Ostritch emulators can do hardware map tracing when used with Nistune's software. Which is significant because previously, at least ot my knowledge, the only way to get proper map tracing on a CA required a $1000 piece of hardware.

For the cheapest route, the Nistune software alone is only $200 and you could use it with your buddy's emulator to tune and then burn a chip with the results. If you want you can upgrade to the Nistune board at a later date if you want, it won't matter.

I'm a strong proponent of rom tuning via nistune/emulators. I think for basic intake setups with MAFs you can do pretty damn near anything a PFC can do. Standalones could make CA's run sequential fire instead of batch but to be honest it's not like my engine has trouble hauling a** anyway...

I have tried tuning my CA18DET with my Ostrich Emulator and free software like Live Edit, and RomEditor.

It worked OK. The ostrich is great (i use it on Hondas all the time), works every time.

But the free software i a bit dificult to use. I did make a good basemap (with stock AFM, 660cc injectors), and i after some road tuning it worked good. But i it took ages.

I am now going to buy nistune (the whole package). Everything is just so much easyer when you have maptrace with live AFR values in the map.

EPROM keeps my car running so im all for it.

i am upgrading to nistune soon, but for basic tuning EPROMs are golden.

We have the nisstune software suite, we ended up buying the tuner license it was a good ammount of money to invest. I havent the faintest when it comes to tuning, i make the welds and other cool stuff, he does the brainy stuff lol.

either option you go with will cost a bit of money, i know its a tough choice deciding which one i have been there and thats how i got talked in to MS which i hated at first and now it works so im happy enough.

once we can get the other CA up and running on a rom tune he will be more gun ho about it.
