I am replacing the stock tuner in my 2007 Spec-V, and would like to know the correct way to remove the dash trim. I have trim removal tools and am thinking that I just need to pry the pieces off. But I wanted to check with someone who knows for sure, so that I don't end up breaking something. Is there anyone who can help me?

Nevermind. I called Crutchfield and they answered my question.

I have a 2.0...could you please tell me how you removed the radio from the dash? I'm also afraid of prying off the plastic and breaking something...

Thanks!Craig

You will need to pry some of the dash pieces off. There are tools made for this purpose. Car stereo dealers should carry them. If you can't find them, you can go to http://www.crutchfield.com. These tools are plastic and do a pretty good job without marring the trim pieces. You might be able to use a small putty knife, but make sure it's plastic. To remove the stereo, I started by removing the trim around my shifter (I have a six-speed. I am not sure what the automatic console looks like, so I don't know if you need to start there or not.) I pried the trim around my shifter using the tool I mentioned above. This gave me access to the screws securing the trim for the fan/heater, A/C knobs. After removing those screws and removing the fan controls. I had to use the pry tools to remove the oil pressure and G-Force gauges. This gave me access to the remaining screws that attach the trim around the stereo. I take it that you have a Maxima because of your ID, but I have a Sentra, so obviously your dash trim configuration differs from mine. If it doesn't have obvious screws showing, you will probably need to pry them off, but start at the bottom of the dash and work your way up. I hope this helps. Let me know how it turns out.

Mike
