I've searched and can't find an answer. How do you remove the brake light? I took out the 2 screws, but couldn't quite get it to come out easily, and I didn't want to break some plastic part inside the light assembly.

Anyone know how to safely remove the assembly so you can change the bulb?

Thanks!

After removing the screws wiggle it back, it's held in there by little clips.

Yup, as Empty V said, just give it a good pull straight back and it should pop out.

Ok, that was embarrassingly simple. Can't believe I had to ask the question. Once I had the confidence to just pull and that it wouldn't break, I had both lights done in under 2 minutes.

I'll try to post a pic later so others don't have to suffer the embarrassment I just went through!

Good deal! If you start a new thread with a step-by (even if it's only a few steps) we can link it in our new "How To" sticky if the mods ever get it up. When dealing with any kind of resistance with clips it is a little freaky. I know I've broken my share of things because I thought they were held in by clips.

You know there's a section under 'pathfinder/qx4 faqs' that has links to most of the how-to's.. I dunno if that was pre-bit**ing or post. Although I think it would be a good idea to still have a 'how-to' sticky all by itself.

remember that the same idea applies to the front parking lights (next to the headlights). i must have spent 20 minutes attempting to get that one off. those plugs hold pretty damn strong. I broke the front corner light once, because of that plug..
