On my SUV's I never take them to the car wash. I use the hose, bucket of soapy water and a rag.On my bike I never use a hose, just soapy water and a rag. I then rinse it off with a wet rag and dribble the water on and wipe it off ect.

I used to take it to a carwash once a week but yesterday me and another member put on 5starshine.man that stuff seems awesome!

its so slippery the cterry loth seems to want to slide down the hood!

If it lasts even half as long as they say unbeatable I am gonna find the 5star thread somewhere here and post it there.

I can say I have never taken my car to the the car wash. I detail my cars myself. I use to wash my cars more often. But I have 3 now and its a chore.

Sponge. Solution. Hose.

I go over the chrome wheels with a soft cloth and a coat of Nufinish to resist dust and brake pad residue.

After its all done, I dry it off at 70mph.

I do it myself almost every single week. I wax it once a month. On the days I wash and wax, and clean the interior, it usually takes me 2 hours to finish. I scrubb every inch.

I just cleaned the interior of my truck today....boy was it dirty.

I think I may go 4 wheeling in the am, then clean the outside of my truck tomorrow.

I've never EVER EVER let someone else touch my car for a wash, not for the Saturn I had, the Grand Prix, the I30, the Civic, nor the Q. For a while I was using a pressure washer until it broke. The paint looked showroom shiny when using that.

I just recently switched to the Mr. Clean car wash kit, and I'm amazed at the results especially since you don't have to dry the car. Paint comes out just like it did with the pressure washer and it's only a 15-20 minute job. I give my car a full detail (inside and out) every 2 weeks, and wax it every 3 months after an oil change.

During this time of the year, i go to the DIY carwashes, bring my own bucket/sponges/towels, and clean my car there. The water is warm, so it's not painful to the hands (since i shut the outside pipes off at my house). And i don't hold anyone up because i go to a DIY carwash that no one knows about .

Other than that: HANDWASHED ONLY!

Always at home, never let anybody touch the Z.

I never go through an automatic car wash with any of my cars.

Wash, dry, wash, dry, wax, buff, scrub wheels, polish muffler, armor all tires, armor all interior. Thats why my 15 year old car still looks good.

Once a month too.

After getting the Q, I bought a nice hose (& dolly/wheel to store/move it) and cleaning stuff (sponges, bucket, brush, etc), but do run it through an occasional autowash with the under body rinse during the winter.

Never use a rag or sponge. They can trap grit that will scratch your paint. It is best to use a soft bristle car wash brush and good auto soap ( household detergents will strip your wax).

I wash about every other week, clay bar once in the spring and once in the fall, and then apply new finish as needed.

I'd rather wash my vehicles at home. I do a much better job than any automatic wash. But at 1 1/2 - 2 hours per vehicle, times 3, it's hard to find the time. So, I find myself using the automatic washes quite a bit.

nope, u r not alone... since becoming Mr. Mom to a 3-yr old girl & a 10-month old boy... i let mother nature use it's powers to strip the clearcoat off my car, fade the platinum blue paint to a silvery hue, & to let acid rain down on my car.

When the car was in NYC the past 4 years, it had a dramatic drop on the appearance d/t constant dust almost everyday, peeps bumping into it from all sides while parked on the street, the thick layer of road salt that coats my car during the winter... ugh, I gave up on the exterior & focused on keeping the car maintained mechanically sound.

I just use a car duster...

PS: I don't even have time to check up on Nico anymore, except we're all sick from getting a virus from a relative this Xmas <whee!>

I felt so awful that I haven't washed my car in a month, but I got over it. It'll get washed in the next couple days, along with some fresh Mobil 1 (yum!).

Anyways, always by hand. With a fresh rag (usually a sock or two)... as in not-been-used since it was last washed and I throw it away after that one use. Meguiars car soap. Probably gonna wax it in March or so, when it warms up some more again.

It's had some leaves stuck to it for about a month... they got on right after I washed it... ick. I'm surprised they haven't come off from the crazy weather... oh well.

I used to wash my cars, wipe them down till I'm satisfied. I did such a good job my friends though I had my car detailed, but I wouldnt be done for like an hour. Now I just get a hand wash/wax done once a week for $15 @ my friends carwash place.

The Jeep gets a good hand washing as often as I see fit, maybe the DIY carwash if need a quick clean. No time does the Jeep ever see the Automatic Carwash due to the fact of me getting soak and wet if I was to attempt that. (Jeep has a decent problem with leaking)
