im having trouble with my sr. i just installed it replacing my blown sr.ive cranked it for a good min. turned it on and oil pressure light dont go off. so i shut it off. everything is pluggged in right. i took off the oil pan and everything looks dry, even the back of the motor and the hole that should go to the oil pump. i have no clue what else to do. has fresh synthetic oil too.

pull the front cover off and disassemble it. with it disassembled, find the cause of the seize and reassemble with good assembly lube like redline or wako's after you check over the cause of the seize.

if your gears are seized up... time for a new front cover...

SR being so sensitive to lack of oil... I would just get a new front cover.. I wouldnt even care if the used front cover is good or not. I would just get a new one regardless.

Disconnect the Crank Angle Sensor plug to prevent the coil packs from firing to allow oil circulation before the engine is started. if you think the Oil pump is frozen? then Manually prime the pump thru the turbo oil return line into the block (the lower one under the power steering pump) if you don't get immediate oil pressure. Confirm oil pressure by removing the valve cover, cover timing chain area and briefly run engine. You should see oil coming out all over the place.

In the past when I've installed motors, I've never had an issue with a pump losing its prime. You have to think about what put that motor in the yard, and it could be a failed oil pump. If youdecide to get a new oil pump, you'll need to prime it. What I typically do is take some vaseline and suck it up into the pump gears (or if you can't get it to suck, disassemble the pump and put a bunch in the gear). The vaseline will dissolve in the oil once you get the car started and oil starts flowing.

Another thing to consider is that if the oil pump went bad, look at the bearings of the crank to make sure they haven't spun from being dry.
