my car shifts pretty firm from first to second.I have ohm meter ,but cant get a reading from sensor. If I disconect it. transmission malfunction appears.and if i move it up and down the idle goes up and down .Cant find sweet spot either it will shift way before its time or take it all the way to 2500rpm.

It is CRITICAL that you adjust TPS correctly so that the ecu can divide TPS voltages into correct 10 steps of LOAD.

The TPS should read 0.4-0.45 volts [at center wiper of potentiometer to ground] nothing else at warm idle.

Fiddling with position is a sure way to screw up engine managment.

Yes but is it something even a lame person can do or does it have to be profesional?

We use a Consult to see what the ecu says it sees!

The FSM shows that terminal # 38 on ecu is where the voltage is sensed.

Page EF/EC 146 shows the diagrams and connectors and wire colors.

It is very difficult to adjust and diagnose without a Consult but possible with years of experience and FSM and an ACCURATE VOM.

is there an easy way to check tps voltige without consults and fsm,s?I played with it enough to get it to shift softer.right before it hits 2000rpm even seems like i gained more power.Ive looked at pics posted of plenum intact and it (looks)pretty close to the pics.(position wise)

I think you question is answered above. Why would anyone wish to ignore the FSM?

In this case, a picture could be off more than enough degerees to fubar everything. Why DVM or preferably Consult is used to determine accurately and precisely TPS position.

TPS has been used on vehicles for 25 years why would any educated person think they could be adjusted without test equipment and an instruction sheet?

Think you are missing the point the TPS is adjusted to satisfy the ECU not the transmission. Sure changing TPS will affect transmission but it changes ECU and engine operation WORSE!

What ever you do don't fiddle with CAS without a timing light, accurate RPM gauge [Consult] and FSM.

Even worse than the above are any of the adjustments screws on throttle body.

Please pay someone trained to solve your vehicle problems because only owners and untrained and unexperienced on Q45 can really destroy it........fiddling with things.

FSM is easy enough to get a hold of, follow Maxnix's link. You can check the voltage on the TPS using a basic multimeter. Make sure it matches what the FSM describes in the AT section. Also remember that if you have Traction Control, your car has TWO throttle position sensors.

Mine shifts firmly if not under heavy acceleration or light acceleration. Normal throttle pressure will cause a shift from 1-2 hard enough to move you. At times, when my hand is on top of the shifter and my finger is pointed in the direction of the track skip button, the 1-2 shift will cause me to inadvertantly switch tracks. Quite annoying, really.

I know what you mean. I don't know if it's normal. I've asked about it before, and all I've gotten are contradictory responses. My Q tech said I didn't need a rebuild, some on the board have said that it could be that my transmission is on its way out.
