how do u check main bearing?

to check the condition of main bear, drop the oil pan and... look for wut? how does a good condition one look like? how does a messed up one look like? Im buy a sr20 just wnana know how to check the condition of the engine.. so yea guys. wut should i look for? wuts the stock compression number? post some picture of good bearing or bad bearing will be cool.

To get to the main bearings you need to remove the crank. Basically a complete tear-down of the bottom end. The worn bearings will show discoloration or grooves in the metal. By discoloration, it will look as a different material than the rest of the surface.

so if u were to buy a used engine, how would u check the condition? wut kinds of test or signs u look for? ^^

I would recommend picking up a book. There is to much to go into to type up on a forum when you could just read it yourself and have visuals. There is more than just bearings you should probably be checking though to determine the condition of the engine also.
