When I bought my G35, the previous owner disconnected the seat-beltbuzzer but the red seat belt LED still lights up next to the speedometer. Is there a wire I can disonnect under the driver's seat to make this redlight go off?

Please no moral lessons today.. Just looking for the answer..

Thanks!Tom

How about buckle up. It is the law in every state. If you don't belive in seat belts, watch a race on tv just once. And after an accident, if you still aren't convinced that they do help. Then you are a lost cause and are on your own.

We can chalk the loss up to natural selection.

Come 'on guys...he's not asking us to punch a baby in the face. We're all adults and have the right to make our own decisions.

Tom, I'm not sure how you can deactivate the seatbelt indicator...you could always get a spare (from a junkyard) connector and have it inserted in the driver's belt harness.

Welcome to NICO!

No disconnect needed. It's an open circuit, so you actually have to re-connect something.

Punch the previous owner in the face, and then re-connect the seat belt plug.

By all means, feel free to drive w/o a seat belt, put a piece of electrical tape over the light.

As I suspected some people just have to be jerks all the time in life.It was a simple question and since you didn't have a valid answeryour response was just a waste of everyone's time. Nice spellingeffort of "believe" by the way..

Don't take it personally, well at least too much.

Alot of the guys who have been working in this field long enough, like awdjdmtalon and q45tech and myself and have seen the downsides of actions like defeating the seatbelt light. Just be forewarned that the Airbag control unit detects seatbelt position and adjusts inflation rate as if the driver was secured.

My parents never wore seatbelts, and you are free to do that. One of the good things about this forum is the people here have real world experience and some of us have different ways of sharing that. Welcome to the group hope we haven't scared you off.

Tom,

Welcome to NICO. Please don't be a d!ck about your question. There are some of us, like myself, that have been in horrible accidents without our seatbelts on.

I was 10 years old when it happend and had to be bed ridden for 6 weeks. During that time, I pulled windshield bits out of my face. I had 30 stitches on my right shin where the glove box has gashed through my subcutaneous (I vaguely remember seeing blood, flesh, and fat through a 3-4" gash).

I still have a shard of glass below my right eyebrow that the doctors prefer not to remove (15 stitches there too). My pelvis was fractured in two places as was my wrist.

It took over 6 years for me to regain similar flexibility and mobility that I had prior to the accident and to this day, I still have hip and lower back pain.

So, I'm not here to tell you what to do with your life, but please realize that some of us have experience the "possibilities" first hand and we'd like to help others avoid our mistakes.

Sorry you think I an being a jerk. And thanks for pointing out my lack of spelling skills. LOL.

But like some of the others here, I have been in 2 major accidents. I would have been killed in either of them w/o a seat belt.

The 1st one I was 16 and hit black ice and hit a tree head on at 45 mph in a 70 Nova. Even with a seatbelt on I still contated the steering wheel.

The 2nd time I flipped a 93 VW Corrado into a tree at 75mph. (My fault, going too fast) The car hit the tree upside down and spun around it, then laned on the roof.

And in both cases I had passangers. And they would have suffered the same as me, if not for seat belts.

Plus as Steve stated, the airbag system needs to see seatbelt position for porper inflation of the airbag.

Also most states w/ a state inspection, like here in VA require the seatbelt like to operate, as well as the airbag light to pass safety insp.

Just food for thought.

I was 12, and my mom's Lebaron hit a patch of ice on a turn, and we hit a tree. Earned a big red mark across my chest, instead of flying head first into the woods.

At least for the sake of the next owner, don't further disable a safety feature. Just buy the extra connector like Joe suggested

I guess I'll add my "seatbelt saved my life story"...

I was sitting in a line of cars leaving my high school senior year. The line was probably near a 1/4 mile long, as everyone was leaving at the same time. I'm sitting there just listening to my radio, and a subsitute teacher rear ends my car going 40 mph (I have no idea how/why they were going this fast, it was clear no one was going anywhere at the time). I jolted forward, only to be stopped by my seatbelt, as the airbag will not deploy on a rear end crash.

Had I not been wearing it, I would have been thrown through my front windshield, most likely killed for have severe head tramua. I was lucky to only walk away with a little neck ache from the quick jolt....the impact was so bad my car had to have the frame re-welded...

Just my .02....seatbelts save lives.
