How do I tell if my MAF is bad?

So anyway, ever since I had my car, it's had a strange idling issue. So today, I checked my CTS and IAC connectors. they were missing clips and so I wiggled them on tight. Right afterwards, I had a little incident where I accidentally threw a wet air filter in my car and soapy foam got into my intake, through the mafs.

I cleaned up, waited around for the mafs to dry up, put everything back in and the car idles perfect and runs fine...but I think my mpg might be lower than usual.

so I was wondering if getting the mafs wet like that might have killed it?

I would suggest checking vacuum points, especially the several along the intake before the MAS (I think theres 3 of them on the KA-DE) If you check the MAS and its ugly in there (corroded etc.. unplug the negative terminal from the battery, get some baking soda and a toothbrush and give it a good clean down)

If your mpg got crappy then it's most likely our O2 sensor not your MAF.
