I have an 89 240SX Coupe. The guy I bought it from did a 5 lug conversion. I'm about to do suspension, and I don't know if I should buy shocks for a S14 or S13. Which would fit? If both, how would I tell if he used S13 parts or S14? Would it make any difference?

depends, if he used the s14 spindles then your car probably has s13 control arms with s14 ball joint and s14 spindles and you'll probably need s14 struts. You can make either work with a little bit of canoodling though, or they make conversion bolts iirc.

Here's what I know:

S14 rear hubs and axles, I assume he didn't change the uprights, since there's no real reason to. The back end should be relatively simple.

The front is where it gets confusing. Obviously he used S14 SE hubs in the front, I would assume he just swapped the whole spindle. Here's where it gets odd. He hadn't changed the ball joints yet, so I just purchased R32 front control arms with balljoints. I'm told that aside from being a couple of millimeters longer, these are the same as S13 control arms with S14 ball joints...

s14 spindles with s13 stuts, you'll need to drill out the holes if I remember correctly, or they make a piece that fills up the extra space...

I'll do the balljoints probably today or tomorrow, when I do I'll take some pics and see if that helps to identify what I have.
