Hi everybody,

I just bought some Sylvania Ultras last night for my 94 Q and could not remove the old ones. I took off the ring around the connector and removed the connector but I just could not pull the old bulbs out. It has three prongs so I'm wondering if I have to do a counter clockwise twist to unlock them or just pull them straight back towards the firewall. It got too dark so I stopped and will finish trying to remove them tommorrow afternoon.

There's a wire snap ring holding the bulb in place. Bent needle nose pliers work good to loosen one leg of the snap ring at a time and it swivels out of position so you can remove the bulb. Bring a mirror with you on your next attempt and it will all make sense. Good luck.

Wow, thank you soo much Goody! I can't believe I didn't think of that. I've got some stupid rubber cover all around it so it was hard to see anything without tearing it all up. I would imagine thats necessary for weather proofing so I did not want to damage it.

Thanks and you're welcome. Unscrew the large cap, unplug the connector and then the rubber cover pulls right off exposing the clip and the lamp.

If you are somewhat anal retentive, it is nice to remove the whole unit and clean ans polish the lens if it is not armored.

The whole job is easier if you remove the headlamp- trying to fiddle with getting the bulb retaining spring clips back in place is murder with the limited access and visibility while headlamps are attached to car-

Thank you for the great advice. I see some 10mm bolts in the front securing the headlight assy' to the body, do I remove the blinker to get access to the side bolts? Yall make it sound like its really easy. You're right about the tiny space behind the headlight, it was extremely frustrating.

The turn signal assembly has a short arm that attaches to the headlamp assembly with a smallish screw. You'll see it on top of the headlamp assembly almost under the fender corner. Remove the screw and pull the turn signal assembly straight out. It's a plastic ball and socket so be careful not to break one of the tabs. Once the turn signal assembly is out you'll see two 10mm bolts holding in the headlamp assembly.

Thank you for your super accurate instructions Goody! I took both assemblies out and changed the bulbs. What a difference the Sylvania Ultras make! I took apart the driver side adjuster assy' and rotated the gear a few teeth and it seemed to have adjusted the left side even with the right side! One of the gears was cracked.

Now your an expert at headlamp removal and beam adjustment. It'll be your turn next to type out the instructions and pass on what you know.

Thanks.
