The timing front cover is on tight, I used a hammer and pryed it using the intake manifold as a pivot point.? just be careful of the intake manifold, and of the head gasket, and the oil pan gasket, and the oil pump and the distributor....

I fixed the timing chain guide on the engine, and it cost me $900... because the distributor and oil pump got misaligned....

When I changed the timing chain in mine, I had to raise the engine a couple of inches so I could drop the oil pan. There are 2 studs on the bottom of the timing cover that go into the oil pan..... that part isn't fun because trying to re-seal the pan gasket afterwards is a pain in the a$$. The oil pan will not come right off the car because of the oil pump pick-up tube.

Good luck..... my 1 day timing belt job ended up taking almost 3 days.

Yeah, you just gotta pry hard, but be careful at the same time, also double check that you have all the bolts out and don't forget about the tube that goes into the oil pan, that has to be disconnected too.
