More specifically i need to properly remove the windshield trim/seal, I'm almost 100% that the side pieces are reusable and i don't want to damage them.

Basically, I'm prepping the car for paint, and my windshield is cracked. since I'm replacing the windshield after paint, i want to remove the trim so i don't have a chance of the window guys messing up my new paint putting in the new window.

The windshield is held in with urethane, so as far as I know you'll have to dominate it with a sledge hammer to get it out. That's what I did, though I don't think its the cleanest way. As far as the trim goes, is it really that expensive that you want to save it? They put in new trim when I got the windshield replaced, and it was only three hundo including glass, labor, and surround trim.

they make a tool that slips under the windshield and cuts the urethane holding it on all the way around. looks like an L and the bottom part is a blade. but you need new sealant that way. and also, if you decide to go this route, buy a nice one. i bought one from autozone and almost threw it through their front window afterwards... bastards and their cheap a** products...
