How do I remove lift cylinders on 1997 maxima's hood and install new ones?

How do I remove lift cylinders on 1997 maxima and install new ones?

there should be a clip on the top and bottom. lift that clip back with a flathead and pull lift support away from ball stud. push your new ones on and you're done. if yours do not have the clips, you might have to remove the ball studs first. while you are doing the first one you can take a pair of vice grips to the silver part of the opposite cylinder to keep it from hitting you in your noggin.

Welcome to NICO!

If they are the Nissan OEM hood struts, there won't be a clip; but you'll have to unscrew the ball stud from the hood, and see if the new kit includes the studs. If so, then just pry the clip out with a small screw driver and insert the new shock on to the ball stud (once screwed into the hood), and release the clip.
