a while back I downloaded a ka24e engine rebuild video and it was stored on my computer as an .ISO file. I tried to delete it off my desktop and it won't let me. It says that another person or program is using the file.

I haven't used the file in over a year nor is another program using it that I know of. I wan't to get rid of it... anyone know how to?

It is possible that the file is protected from deletion because your computer marked it as read-only (under the assumption that it came from a CD-ROM!).

Try changing the read/write protection on the file (do it in a DOS prompt for simplicity, using the "ATTRIB -R filename.iso" command) and see if that allows you to delete the file after that.

To be honest, I am not sure what you are experiencing, so I will make a few suggestions that may be very naive here. So ... hmmm ... try some more options to the attrib command in a DOS window:

ATTRIB -S -A -R -H filename.iso

and then do a delete and see what happens.

Also ... try logging in as the Administrator and deleting the file. That file ownership may be different from your account ...

To get into DOS I just go to run and type "CMD" correct? Thats how i've been doing it and have not solved anything. I tried all the attrib commands and nothing. I am the only admin on my computer so I can't log onto anything else. The command says that the file can not be found.

Thanks alot for your help tho!

Maybe you should unmount the ISO from the virtual drive.

whats the point in that when you can download this tool. And right click, click unlocker and boom its gone...

and then you have it for when the next one comes. so much easier...

What's the point in having crap you aren't currently using mounted on the drive?

haha, that was not a very good point.

Its not like your never going to use it again. Its not like a browser that just sits there, or a antivirus you never use.

Your answer wasn't very good. Why have data mounted on a virtual drive if you aren't using it? What reason is there to keep it there when it isn't being used? Even if you plan to use it in the future you aren't using it now so there is no reason for it to be there. You can't justify leaving it there so don't even try.

Can't justify it? have you every used it? Unlocker tool is a much more powerful tool than your thinking.

People always gotta find some reason not to like something.
