How Do I Program The # character on my Phone

Hi,I am new to this board so please help me. I just got the new 2008 G35X and am very happy with it. The only problem I have is the programing of the phonebook. In order to phone my answering machine I have to insert a PAUSE and the # character into my number but I can't find the PAUSE and # anywhere on the keyboard. What is your advice regarding my problem.

When the phone is engaged there are several options available (use handset, keypad etc). Press keypad and you will see the # button. However, the car must be completely stopped in order for you to bring up the keypad. Not sure about the pause.
