How do I lower Lbs of boost on my stock internal wastegate?

I have a Te04h, witch is alittle bigger than a t28, I know its small, but it was free, Im going to run 4 - 4.5 psi, With a revlimeter set at 5K rpm, so i do not over rev the turbo. (not looking for high numbers) I am wondering, how do I get the stock wastegate to lower boost? I have heard of changing springs, How do you open the stock wastegate to change the spring? Would cutting the wastegate shaft, and shorting it be a better Idea, than changing the spring? If cutting the shaft is better, how do I know how much to cut?

change the wastegate actuator on an internal gate.

What about cutting the rod, and threading it, and making it longer , to make it adjustable, and rrun less boost?? I dont think they would even have an wastegate with lower psi spring , as this turbo is not popular, unless all internal wastegate actuators are interchangeable

It would kill your spool.

If you lengthen the rod, the flapper stays open a little all the time, and you waste precious exhaust energy you could've used to spool the turbo.

See reply #1 for the ONLY good answer.

Or weld it shut and go external...

you can thread the whole shaft coming out of the wastgate, then get a spring and put over the thread and put a nut on it. the tighter you squeeze the spring, the lower the boost you will have and you will have complete control on setting your boost. This works good, I have done it before I went to higher boost. Be sure to put a washer before the spring so the spring doesn't go inside the little gap.

I guess that would work, yeah.never thought of that.it would effectively lower the spring rate inside...interesting.did you think of that yourself?

I got my spring at princess auto. But you can get it anyware. The spring worked well for me, but 4psi wouldn't cut it. I thought it would be enough, i was wrong. Its good to start off low to make sure your not going to have any problems. Then bring the boost up slowly. Good luck
