how do i know if my oil pump is going out?

how would i find out if my oil pump is going out or is already? would there be a noise? would it show on an oil pressure gauge?

and oil pressure gauge would show it. it would be a big drop in Psi. also if youre losing pressure, you will hear strange noises coming from the head. lots of ticking from the lack of oil.

yea i hear that, the problem is i have this ticking coming from the head, i rthought i bled the lifters good enough, so im gona do them again when i get the chance, the ticking noise is coming from the front area of the head, to replace the oil pump, you gota pull the headand oilpan dont you? (among other little things)

if you even suspect that your oil pump is going out, then replace it. its not worth the risk.

thats the problem, i dont know if i suspect it or not, so if i gt an oilpressure gauge what should it be reading?

the oil pump dose not creat oil presser the cleaence between the bearing creat presser the pump just creats flow.(but if u ant got flow u ant got presser).....after the car if warmed up any thing below like 18 psi at idle is low and the faster u turn the moter the hight the presser should be .... hope this helped
