how do i install a chain tensioner?

before anyone tells me to search i need!!! do i just bolt in the new one? do i have to release the clip of the new tensioner ones its in there? oh and its an s14 sr if it makes any difference. thanks

Have you checked the FSM? I'm sure it will tell you exactly how.

Clip the hook on the tensioner and then slowly push the tensioner into it's hole. It will push against the chain and release the hook so be ready with the tensioner bolt. Might take a few trys

so the hook releases it self?
