Just changed out my EGR valve on my 1995.
The worst part is access. We removed the air filter piping to get to it. I think we used a 1 1/8" wrench to loosenthe octangal pipe (to the plenum tube) by the EGR valve then took off thebolts (#12 or #10 metric?) to the EGR valve and the metalgasket. The old one was 14 years old but appeared to be ingood shape-the spring and seal appeared to be ok. I could makeit "blow" air by easily moving the seal up or down. You might shootsome WD40 in EGR mounting area to loosen up these rusty bolts the day before.
Remember there is a EGR tube which goes on to the back of the plenum (upper intake). You will need to remove the screws from the back of the upper intake. I think therewill be a 2 large flat washers with two screws going into theplenum itself with a small gasket.
BE SURE TO LINE UP THAT TUBE TO THE INTAKE pretty well or you will have to go back to the depths of your maxima agianto loosen it up. Maybe leave the tube loose until you bolt up the plenum and tighten everything together. It is hard to keepthat little gasket on while hooking up the tube too.
There is also an EGR valve actuator for the EGR valve. It was $so I didnt changeout.
If they would make the car half as sturdy as the EGR valve, we wouldntneed a forum!
