It looks like the bottom ball doesn't fit through the mounting bracket. Is there a way to remove the base up top and drop the shifter down through the bracket? I honestly have no idea how the heck the previous guy got the thing in there, it just doesn't physically fit...

Thanks.

Looks like that round black plate comes off. Otherwise the whole assembly comes out the top of the trans to access bushings and is held pressure with a big spring, which is how most nissan RWD shifters are. The shifter is actually 2 pieces that aren't supposed to separate. The part the shift knob screws onto separates from the base. I know because i've done it by mistake before.

I think I explained this in another post just a few months back. Looks like a ebay special or stillen shifter.
They are actually a three piece, bottom ball, pivot piont and the top.

1)put the 8 mm bolt back into the shift link with the shifter, to prevent itfrom spinning.

2)unscrew the top half of the shifter, where the flats are. Bottom ball comes out from the bottom.

PS Im not intereted in purshasing that shifter:)

Hope that helps
