i've got a fuel leak somewhere, and after tracing the lines i found it, but it's right under the bar attached to the throttle that open and closes the plenum intake. how do i get that bar off? i've tried eyeballing it and scratching my head, it looks like i take out the two allenkey bolts in the front, and then.. i don't know what..

That bar's attached to the upper plenum, if you can't get to the fuel line clamps that are on the fuel line underneath then unfortunately my friend you are going to be doing an upper plenum pull. Make sure there is no way to access the fuel line clamps before you do the pull.

i looked at it again, and i think i can just pull the throttle bodies instead of the whole plenum. here is where the leak is..

there is one allenkey bolt i can't get at.. it's the bottom one for the .. assembly where the throttle cable attaches.. a backshield behind the timing belt is blocking access to it, so i might drill through it i guess? how am i supposed to get at this thing?

:wtf2:

i got the throttle bodies loose, in an attempt to get that rod out of the way, but they're stuck, i don't know how to get them out of the way now *lol*

any help is appreciated, i really don't want to tow her to the dealership and hang my head in shame as someone else works on her. all of my previous 'project cars' were pre-1975 and a lot easier ;)

You don't have to tow it to a dealership. But, the pulling the plenum is the correct way to fix this, as was previously suggested by robomatic12. I will tell you, if the throttle body water lines haven't been bypassed, it can be a pain the first time. But, it will give you an opportunity to replace the intake valve gaskets and clean up some things. I would bypass the throttle body water lines while I was in there as well.

Take a good look at the all of the fuel hose and replace it with Fuel injection line if needed. Also, get fuel line clamps, not the standard screw clamps that are normally used for water lines. Line them up so you can tighten them with the plenum on (it can be done). Then, the next time it will be easy to fix it.

Good luck

No way to get that bolt out without pulling the plenum man. I had to take mine back off to get my TBs back on when I was assembling my engine lol

yes, there is a small list to do and here is a link that is in the sticky at the top on how to do a plenum pull - http://www.thedevilsz.com/site/technica ... m_pull.pdf

1). PCV valves and hoses - http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=3444

2). Air valve hoses - These tend to be toast and need replacement when you pull the plenum - http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=3415

3). Valve cover gaskets on the intakes - exhaust should be fine since they are RTV'd. Reseal the VTC valves as well. They are on the back of the each intake. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=2819 <= this kit also includes the upper plenum gasket.

4). Throttle body water bypass - covered in the link at the top.
