Assuming I buy a car thats like 4 hrs away from me (in CT i'm in MA); how do I get the car home? The guy selling it wont let me use his plates to drive it, and I kinda want it soon. Do i have to send him money, get the certificate to get plates for it at the RMV then go down there put MY plates on ..that would take weeks ...Can I just use my old plates on his car? Or get temp plates?-dave

...and which 240 are you getting in CT? I like to think I know about most of em that are for sale here, just wondering which one you're picking up...?

If you dont want to go through all the hassle just go ahead and use a trailer or if you have state farm I think they move cars up to 100 miles for free. Thats what they did for my brother in law when they moved his 93 Sentra SE-R GSR 2000

You can use another plate. Just be sure to have all of your paperwork together and get a receipt of sale. I had this problem when I brought my first 240 home last year. I didn't have a plate, because I forgot it, and was given a non-pointable violation for $100. If I had had a plate, even one that didn't belong to the car, I would have been ok.

just get a sharpie and write "ma tag applied for" on a piece of paper and tape it in the window. ive seen it a few times. or you could steal a dealer plate and use that, a friend did that for a while. lastly, why a 96? the 95 gt is so much better than the 96 gt. the 95 was a special edition with the 5.0 engine, 96 up got the 4.6. (2 of my friends have mustang GTs)
