how do i fix my trunk switch on my '91 coupe????

i have a 1991 240sx coupe and the trunk handle doesnt work when you pull it up , but the gas latch works when you press down on itplease help me

Open you trunk with your key, then reach down where the latch is. You should see or feel a little tab that will move up and down. Try moving it to the opposite position from where it is.
