Hi All,

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima with typical ignition coil problems. The code reader says cylinder 5 is misfiring.

How do I locate cylinder 5? I was able to find a service manual but it has everything but cylinder numbering?

Thanks,Nick

Unless Nissan changed it around the rear bank (known as the right bank looking from the rear of the engine) will be cylinders 1, 3, and 5 from right to left (passenger side to driver's side).

Looking at it from the front of the car:

Firewall

1 3 5 - transmission2 4 6 - transmission

Front Bumper

Thanks for the reply.

Is this information typically in the factory service guide?

I see a circuit diagram with the same numbering you mentioned but wasn't sure if that shows the physical layout as well?

Look in the manual I've got an 02 and in my manual somewhere it shows the cylinder numbers.

This is how its labeled in my manual

1 3 52 4 6frontso if you look at the engine from the front of the car it should be in the back on the right(drivers side)
