You'll get a check engine light just so you know, unless you run a resistor inline. Don't ask me what type or where cause I don't know...lol. Install the cap for the EGR valve and simply plug all the vac lines that went to it.

do you have the block off plate to the EGR valve or the intake manifold? A lot of people leave the EGR valve on and block it off but I find it a PITA to do it because the open area is facing the firewall and it sucks to stick your hand in there. What I did was take off everything completly off the intake manifold and put a block off plate there + RTV. This way, the open area that needs to be blocked off will be facing upwards and will be a lot easier to stick an extension in there and bolt a plate right up.

As for vacuum lines, cap everything off. Don't worry about capping off the wrong vacuum lines. If it's not FPR or Brake booster, you're good. I did it this way and I don't have a CEL, I'm not sure why people get it when removing EGR.

EDIT: When i say "take off everything completly off"...I do not mean take the entire intake manifold off. I mean the whole EGR system.

Has anyone tried simply cutting the EGR output pipe where it connects to the downpipe and crimping it closed then laying a weld bead across it?

yes I have seen that done before and it works... just leaves an extra pipe hanging out in your bay.

Wish I took a pic of my current block off method.. Used a bolt then welded it.. Other thna that I've used diamond plate a drill and grinder. Or JB weld works as well

I left the valve, or the bracket on there or something, because it was easier to make a block off plate after the valve than it was to make a block off plate on the intake mani. The giant *** hose is removed and I have no CEL.

I used a quarter and Jeb weld for the EGR block of plate WOOT WOOT. Actually I might have a picture of it somewhere.

As for the Cell only California cars get that cause they have some extra temp sensor hooked up to it, or something of that sort.

I removed my egr, with no check engine light on my 92. I am running a tuned ecu however, but that should not play a role should it? I picked up some sheet metal from ace, cut it to fit the back of the manifold where the egr went. I used high temp rtv, and two bolts I had lying around in the garage to secure it. No leaks still. If you dont take the manifold off it just takes some patience. I used a sawsall to cut all the egr piping off since I wont need any of it anymore, or the stock exhaust manifold. Btw like craving4boost said, plug all the lines. The fsm has a good diagram of what lines do what, and what valves to remove. Ill put a diagram up to give you a idea of how I did mine, and what to plug

I hope this helps. This is what I did with my car. Its not the easiest to see, but I think you can see it good enough to understand. Good luck

Lol it's not going to give you 20hp it's only going to clean up the look of your engine bay and stop the engine from getting gunked up by a faulty EGR. It can possibly free up a hp or two but nothing too noticeable. The pros are mostly that you now have less to break!
