96 (OBDII) Q45. How do I check/adjust my timing? There is no distributor to turn. So I'm lost. What should my timing be set to? Thanks. Mark

Check out that thread, you want it at 15*BTDC, which is like the 4th mark from the left.... I think..... Instead of turning the distributor you turn the crank angle sensor....

Why would your timing be off of 15 degrees? Think carefully before you attemp to adjust something that is not in error, causing more problems.

Because it is such a pain, dealer techs or anyone else rarely fiddle with oem setting!

In a way it is somewhat self regulating becuse ecu adjust electronic timing to maintain idle speed.

Do I even have a crank angle sensor? I do NOT have the variable valve timing like the other years do. Where is the crank angle sensor & what does it look like? I wish I could get a factory repair manual for less than the $200 I seem to find them for.
